10 Little Known Tips and Tricks in Solid Edge

 There are many tips and tricks in solid edge that can be used to make your life easier!

  1. You can scroll your middle-mouse-button wheel to page through the Ribbon Bar tab (just like in Microsoft Office!).And, double-clicking the middle-mouse-button wheel will fit your model/drawing to the screen.
  2. Use the small icon in the bottom-right corner of the QuickPick window to change the time delay (and size) of QuickPick when choosing from multiple overlapping entities
  3. When drawing a series of line segments, you can use the “A” key to toggle between an arc and a line segment.
  4. When pushing/pulling a sketch the “spacebar” key toggles adding/removing material and the “shift” key toggles symmetry.
  5. You can use CTRL+Tab to page through any additional files that are open.
  6. When assembling a part in an assembly, holding “R” and clicking a part will show that part’s reference planes.
  7. The frame environment in an assembly has its own simulation capabilities for beam analyses.
  8. Have you used the various select tools? Check the drop-down menu of the select tool, as well as the other commands next to it, near the top-left in the Select section of the Ribbon Bar.
  9. When creating a dimension in ST6, you can hover over an existing dimension to snap and maintain alignment, in all environments.
  10. Did you know there are rectangular and circular patterns in Drawings? Check the Mirror drop-down in the Draw section of the Ribbon Bar when you have the elements selected.
